As the pictures above show, the RL can withstand quite a hit and still protect the occupant.   The impact into the pole was at about 45 MPH, the pole fell on the car, damaging the roof, and cracking the rear window.  Despite the severity of the crash the doors still opened without binding, and the driver walked away without a scratch.
